Breakfast, evening meals and packed lunches
A full Scottish or continental breakfast is served in the dining room. Fresh locally-baked bread and home-made oatcakes, home-made preserves, eggs from a neighbour's farm. Bacon, black-pudding & sausages from the local butcher - simply delicious. Packed lunches can be supplied if prior notice is given.
At Muirhouses, we bring you the best in Scottish produce, supporting local artisan and larger producers to ensure the very best of Scotland’s larder is available to you at our breakfast table. In addition, we use Fairtrade flour, teas, coffee and chocolate so we’re also supporting producers in other parts of the world.
Soft fruits such as raspberries, strawberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants and brambles are sourced locally in the summer. These fruits are also used to make our own fruit compote.
Our local butcher provides us with our Scottish pork sausages, Stornoway black pudding, and Scottish back bacon, which gives us full provenance over the meat we serve to you at breakfast.
Our porridge oats are sourced from a local mill, one which we actually send our own home-grown oats from the farm to. We also make our own oatcakes from a family recipe, which has been enjoyed for generations.
Our eggs are laid on our neighbour’s farm and delivered to us to ensure the freshest eggs are on your plate.
We also have a selection of Scottish cheese and Scottish smoked salmon available on our breakfast selection.
Our smoked salmon is delivered to us weekly by our “fish man”, who travels down from Sandend on the Banffshire coast. He provides us with the best hot smoked salmon we can find!
